Photo editing tools:
Many of our customers sell one-of-a-kind items which means there is a constant need for new pictures. Our software makes the picture upload process as easy as possible, but preparation of pictures for use on the website is best done with other software.
If you don't already had image editing software we recommend you use the free Picasa tool from Google. It is reasonably easy to use and will do everything necessary to edit your pictures and get them ready for website use. Use the link above to get your copy of Picasa, download and install it, and then visit our Picasa Tutorial page for instructions on how to use it to prepare pictures for your website.
Modern cameras take images so large the web server doesn't always have enough memory to process them. Pictures for the web only need 72 pixels per inch to display well. Pictures you want to print need 300 pixels per inch to look their best. Before you attempt to upload pictures to your website you need to use Picasa or your image editor to resize them. We suggest 1,200 pixels on the longest side as the largest picture you should upload to the web server.

We constantly hear from people frustrated by the time and effort required to make even the smallest changes to their websites. At the same time we hear from website developers about customers who demand the ability to change things themselves but never do. We think there are two parts to website design and support which are best handled differently. An analogy might be the difference between a general contractor and an interior decorator.
As website developers we are much like the general contractor. We build the pages, set up the navigation structure and make sure visitors will find it easy to use. Then we put our custom code on the individual pages so the customer can act as their own interior designer. If major changes are needed (equivalent to a room addition) we get involved again. However, for the countless everyday ads/edits/deletes we are not involved and the customers take care of those themselves.
